sirkowski:

Russian postcard from the First World War. If I can get out of this rut and start working on Miss America again, part of the future storyline involves child soldiers. But you know, in a fun way… not sure yet how I’ll pull that off… lol

The first place my mind went to was picturing a kind of makeshift kindergarten classroom, with a blackboard, bold-colored letters and numbers astrew, and multicolored rugs for the kids to sit on. The teacher, dressed in a BDU, is all smiles and jovial laughter. After a lesson on field stripping the enemy’s gear, he smiles kindly and asks: “Children, do you know what time it is?”
“Sortie!” The kids cheer and jeer as they raise their bayonets into the air. Behind them, in their racks, rest the rifles ready to go.
